Soak In The Goodness Of Sunshine Without Affecting Your Skin
What does your skin need this summer?
With the advent of Summer, days will get warmer and warmer. However, there is no escaping from the heat and the sun as we go about our regular activities be it work, shopping, or a leisure dip in the pool. That makes sun protection products essential for the season. Why? Heat exposure may lead to sunburn, skin aging, damage to the eyes, etc. I agree that sunny weather has many benefits, but it is also important to shield our skin from eventual sun damage.
So, let's see some of the skincare precautions one can take this summer:
Stay hydrated and eat healthily -
During warmer days, our need to stay hydrated naturally increases. Drinking plenty of water is important, so make hydration more delicious with flavoured water that you can create yourself at home. One can consume green vegetables, melons, peaches, corn, mangoes, and other fresh and fragrant herbs available in the season.
Find the right sunscreen -
Pick up a new bottle of sunscreen that is best suited for your skin. There are so many different types of sunscreen, it can be overwhelming to find the right one. Try and look for a sunscreen that has at least an SPF 30 protection.
Outdoor safety precautions -
Wear summer-appropriate apparel - loose-fitting clothing is your best bet for staying cool in the summer. Go for cropped, wide-leg pants, loose shirts, oversize blouses, and dresses and skirts with room to breathe.
- Keep summer gear handy, such as water bottles, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and umbrellas.
- If possible, avoid the midday sun (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
- Stay in the shade whenever possible.
How to treat sunburn -
Take frequent cool baths or showers to help relieve the pain. Use a moisturizer that contains aloe vera or soy to help soothe sunburned skin. Consider taking aspirin or ibuprofen to help reduce any swelling, redness, and discomfort.
After-sun care is very important. Not only are you restoring your skin after a day in the sun, but you're also taking precautions for the next day! You can now enjoy your day in the sun knowing how to protect yourself. It's time to go outside and have some fun, but don't forget to bring your water bottle and sunscreen!
