In the culturally vibrant landscape of Assam, the Srimanta Foundation has embarked on a heartfelt initiative named 'Xako: Building Bridges Among Communities in Assam.' This noble endeavor is dedicated to fostering cultural unity and strengthening ties among diverse ethnicities and communities across the region.

Scheduled for 6 January 2024, the event will unfold at the prestigious 'SrimantaSankaradeva International Auditorium' in Panjabari, Guwahati. This cultural extravaganza aims to celebrate the rich tapestry of Assamese heritage through a diverse array of performances and activities.

At the heart of 'Xako' is the prayer 'Tumi Chitta Vritti Moro,' a soulful invocation that will resonate in Assamese, Bodo, Mising, Rabha, Sadri, and Hindi languages, symbolizing the linguistic diversity that makes Assam unique.

The event promises a spectacular showcase of traditional dances, with participants from different districts contributing to the cultural mosaic. Bagurumba, a traditional Bodo dance, will be performed by non-Bodo participants from the Bongaigaon district. Sattriya, an elegant classical dance, will be presented by Bodo participants from Bongaigaon and Chirang districts.

Gumrag, Kushan, and Kherai, representing the cultural heritage of different communities, will be performed by participants from Majuli, Chirang, and Bongaigaon districts, respectively. Bihu, the iconic Assamese dance, will be brought to life by Bodo participants from the Chirang district.

Adding a heartwarming touch to the event, differently-abled participants from various parts of Assam will showcase their talent through performances of Sattriya Nritya and Geet. The inclusivity of the program is further emphasized by the participation of all attendees in the Kalyan Khormaan dance.

The event will be graced by the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who will deliver a clarion call for building a greater Assam. Ambassador Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla will inspire the audience with the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, underlining the idea that the world is one family.

As the brand ambassador of 'Xako,' the multi-talented Angaraag (Papon) Mahanta will engage with artists, the audience, and special guests, adding a personal and interactive dimension to the cultural celebration.

'Xako' promises to be a captivating journey through the diverse cultural landscape of Assam, where communities come together to celebrate unity, diversity, and the spirit of inclusivity. This event stands as a shining example of how the arts can serve as a powerful medium for building bridges and fostering understanding among communities.
