The state museum in Itanagar is also worth a visit, as it showcases numerous cultural and historical artefacts, providing valuable insights into the region's rich heritage. You can find peace and solace in the religious Thupten Gatseling Monastery of the Monpas and the Theravada Buddhist Temple of the Khamptis.

 

2. Anjaw District:

Also known as the Mishmi Hills, the Anjaw District is a scenic region that offers unique experiences to travelers. Start your day by witnessing the first sunlight on India from the Dong Valley, soaking in the natural splendour of the hot springs in Walong, and visiting Kaho, the last border village near the Indo-China border. While you're there, don't miss a visit to Kibitoo, the easternmost corner of India, which promises to be an unforgettable experience. 3. Lower Subansiri District:

This region is famous for its mesmerising scenery and the warm hospitality of its people, mainly inhabited by the Apatanis and Nyishis. Experience the ethereal beauty of witnessing a sunrise at Pamu Yalang and learn about the Apatanis' cultural practice of pisciculture, a unique method of fish farming. One can witness the 25-foot-tall, naturally formed Shivalinga, which is the tallest in the world. It is also stated that Lord Shiva resides with the goddess of water, Ganga. As a result, it makes sense to catch the water flowing continuously from the lingam's base. While here, check out the Tahi Lampw, a strange stone cave in the village of Reru's Paki Halyang, which is supposed to have been the only haven for those plagued with leprosy at the time.

 

 

4. Tawang

For a truly humbling experience, visit the Tawang district, which is home to the Monpa tribe. Tawang, the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, offers a glimpse into the unique way of life of the Tibetan Buddhist culture. This district is famous for its unique cuisine, such as the authentically prepared Monpa food; like Yak Churpi, which received a G.I. tag recently and more. Explore the enchanting Madhuri Lake (Sangestar Tso), named in honour of the actress Madhuri because she shot a scene for her movie Koyla here. Visit the more than 400-year-old Tawang Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in India. It is a sight to behold and offers a peaceful sanctuary for spiritual seekers. Marvel at the majestic snow-covered Gorichen Peak, the highest peak in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and the twelfth highest peak in the country. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the fascinating creatures, as it also offers the chance to witness the captivating golden ducks, adding to the unique charm of the place.

 

5. Namsai: 

The Namsai district is another must-visit destination, known for its abundant water bodies and resorts built along the rivers. It is a picturesque place that offers a serene and tranquil environment. Don't forget to try the Khamti rice (Khaw Tai), which has been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, indicating its unique heritage and quality.

 

Changlang District:

Changlang district, particularly Miao, is a beautiful small town that serves as the headquarters for the Miao sub-division. Located on the banks of the River Noa-Dehing, it is surrounded by picturesque scenic beauty. The must-visit attractions in this district include Namdapha National Park, a national park and tiger reserve that offers a true wilderness experience. Stilwell Road, also known as Ledo Road, is a historic landmark constructed by Allied soldiers during World War II. The road connects India to Myanmar and offers a glimpse into the region's wartime history. Other attractions in Changlang district include the World War II Cemetery in Jairampur, the Tibetan refugee settlement known for producing colourful woollen carpets, and oil drilling sites at Kharsang and Manabum.
