Arunachal Pradesh's remarkable rise in the world of sports continues to gather momentum as athletes from the state deliver outstanding performances on international platforms, bringing laurels to both the state and the nation. Their achievements across combat sports and para athletics reflect not only individual excellence but also the growing sporting culture and determination of Arunachal's youth.

Leading this wave of success is Sonam Zomba, who scripted history by becoming the first-ever Karma Fight League World Strawweight Champion. The landmark victory marks a significant milestone in Indian mixed martial arts and places Arunachal firmly on the global combat sports map.

In judo, Kentu Lap earned a Bronze Medal at the Asian Junior Judo Championship 2026 held in Amman, Jordan. Competing against some of Asia's finest young judokas, Lap's podium finish is a testament to years of disciplined training and perseverance.

Arunachal's karate contingent also delivered an impressive performance at the South Asian Karate Championship 2026 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Khyoda Talik secured the Gold Medal in Team Kata, while Johny Mangkhiya won two Silver Medals—one in the +68 kg Female Kumite category and another in Female Team Kumite. Their accomplishments underscore the state's growing strength in karate and its consistent emergence of world-class talent.

Adding to these celebrations, para-athlete Tingong Wangpan brought further glory by winning the Gold Medal in the Men's 200m T37 event at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 in Tlaxcala, Mexico. His inspiring performance highlights the spirit of resilience and excellence that defines Arunachal's athletes and serves as a beacon of motivation for aspiring sportspersons across the country.

These achievements are more than individual victories—they are milestones in Arunachal Pradesh's sporting journey. They demonstrate the immense potential of the state's athletes, the impact of sustained support for sports, and the dedication of coaches, families, and sporting institutions that continue to nurture talent.

As Arunachal's champions continue to excel on international stages, they are inspiring a new generation to dream bigger, train harder, and believe that excellence knows no boundaries. Their success is a proud reminder that the state is steadily establishing itself as one of India's emerging sporting powerhouses.
