Manipur Claims Hat Trick Victory in 3rd North East Games 2024

The 3rd North East Games of 2024 concluded with Manipur emerging as the overall champion, securing a hat trick victory in the prestigious event. Their remarkable performance saw them bag a total of 130 medals, including 52 Gold, 38 Silver, and 40 Bronze. This victory solidified Manipur's reputation as a powerhouse in North-eastern sports.

Nagaland, the host state, put up an impressive performance, securing the second position in the medal tally with a total of 134 medals, comprising 48 Gold, 42 Silver, and 44 Bronze. Their ascent from the top 5 in previous editions to the top 2 in this edition showcased their remarkable sportsmanship and growth in sports.

Assam displayed commendable resilience and skill, securing third place with a total of 139 medals, including 43 Gold, 44 Silver, and 52 Bronze. Their journey to the top spot was intense, reflecting the competitive spirit and dedication of their athletes.



Special recognition was awarded to outstanding individuals and states for their contributions to the games. Sikkim was honored with the 'Fair Play Trophy' for exemplary sportsmanship and conduct, while Tripura received the 'Spirit of Olympic Trophy' for embodying sportsmanship, unity, and excellence.

Individual athletes were also recognized for their outstanding performances. Tsuchoi T from Nagaland received the 'Outstanding Sportswoman Award' for her remarkable achievements in athletics, including four gold medals and two silver medals. Venuzo Dawhuo, the Naga wrestling champion, clinched the title of 'Outstanding Sportsman' for his historic feat of winning gold medals in multiple sports disciplines.

As the curtains fell on the six-day event, the flags were lowered in accordance with tradition. The closing ceremony was graced by the President of the World Alysh Federation, Adilet Bayaman Uulu, who extended his wishes for long life and happiness to all participants.

In their official statement, host state Nagaland extended congratulations to all participating states, urging them to carry forward the spirit of sportsmanship and commitment to excellence until the next edition, emphasizing the theme of being "Stronger Together."
