The 26th Open Independence Cup 2023, a thrilling three-day and night football tournament, has successfully come to an end. Organized by the Karbi Jana-Jati Sangha at the esteemed Narengi Krira Santha in Pathar Quarry, the event took place from August 13th to August 15th, 2023.

The prestigious tournament was inaugurated with great honor by the esteemed HMLA Dispur, Shri Atul Bora, symbolizing the union of sports and community in the spirit of independence. His presence surely added a sense of grandeur and encouragement to the participating teams.

The climactic final match unfolded between two formidable teams, Benris SC and Bagh FC, and it was a true spectacle. After an intense battle on the field, Benris SC emerged victorious with a remarkable 4-3 win in the penalty shootout, securing their well-deserved triumph.

An impressive total of 20 teams participated in this championship, each showcasing their dedication, talent, and commitment to the sport. The level of competition was undoubtedly fierce, underscoring the passion that exists within the world of football.

The glory of victory was accompanied by substantial rewards. The winner, Benris SC, was presented with a handsome prize of 1 lakh along with a prestigious trophy, while the valiant runners-up, Bagh FC, were honored with a prize of 50,000 and a trophy that signifies their outstanding performance.
