Arunachal Pradesh has always been known for its scenic beauty and rich culture. But did you know that it's not suitable for trekking and outdoor activities all year round? The roads and routes are best left to the locals during the rainy season. However, autumn is the perfect season to visit this beautiful state, and we've got four districts if you seek a neverending exploration!

Papum Pare:

Papum Pare is a must-visit district. The capital city, Itanagar, is located here, and several tourist spots like Ganga Lake and State Zoo are close by. The Poma village of the Nyishi tribe is a perfect picnic spot with clean rivers and a community that takes pride in keeping its surroundings clean. Be sure to check out Naharlagun, the twin city of Itanagar, where you can go out and experience the nightlife.

Dibang Valley:

Dibang Valley is a paradise for nature and wildlife lovers, with dense forests and new species of flora and fauna discovered in recent years. The headquarters of Anini is filled with diversity and stunning landscapes. Explore the Idu Mishmi customs and lose yourself in wanderlust at Mathu Valley in the Mipi village. The highlight of this district is the Idu Mishimi tribe's belief in an afterlife; visit ATHU-POPU, a sacred resting place where souls are guided by a priest, leaving behind the impression of their hands and tears on a stone.

Anjaw:

Anjaw is a perfect escape for those who want to be one with nature. The area is home to Digaru and Miju Mishmis as well as Meyor communities. The last village of Arunachal Pradesh, Kaho, is located here. Soak in the hot springs in Walong and enjoy the lush green forests of this vibrant village. The Dong village is worth a visit, as it is where the first ray of sunlight falls in India. Its biodiversity and vibrant culture will leave you intrigued.

Upper Subansiri:

Upper Subansiri is filled with biodiversity and rich cultural heritage. The district is home to the Tagin, Nyishi, and Galo communities. The town of Daporijo is a cultural hub, with a mosque, a church, and a temple located adjacent to each other. Don't miss the Manga Mandir and the Laila Majnu site of local rumours. Taksing or Limeking villages offer snow-covered mountains and wildlife, while Taliha is a traditional village steeped in rich folklore.

In conclusion, if you ask me to choose, I would say the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh is worth exploring during autumn as the season brings a perfect environment to explore. But mark these districts on your map and fully immerse yourself in the nature and culture of the region. You will not regret your visit.
