In a remarkable feat, three districts in Arunachal Pradesh—West Siang, Tirap, and East Siang—have achieved the significant milestone of providing 100% piped water connections to every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). This achievement places Arunachal Pradesh at the forefront, becoming the first state in the entire Northeastern region and ranking among the top 10 across India in successfully implementing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) under the JJM.

West Siang District: A Model of Success

West Siang district has successfully provided tap drinking water connections to all 117 villages, marking a historic achievement. During a function organized by the Public Health Engineering and Water Supply Department in Aalo, Aalo East MLA Kento Jini commended the efforts of the village water management committees (VWMCs) and urged them to take responsibility for maintaining the JJM infrastructure. Stressing the importance of preserving catchment areas, Jini emphasized the need for sustainable water management. West Siang Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage applauded the department for this remarkable accomplishment and encouraged VWMC members to monitor water quality.

Tirap District: Meeting the JJM Goal

Tirap district celebrated the successful achievement of 100% functional household tap connections (FHTC) under the JJM. PHED Minister Wangki Lowang, during the celebration, urged the people to use water judiciously and highlighted the significance of protecting drinking water catchment areas. Minister Lowang expressed concern about the water future in the TCL region based on hydrological reports and promised to take necessary measures for a water-secure future. He discouraged jhum cultivation and encouraged tree planting to replenish groundwater levels. DC (i/c) Tana Bapu and Tirap ZPC Chattong Lowang congratulated the people for reaching the 'Har Ghar Jal' goal and commended the PHED team for the successful implementation of JJM in the district.

East Siang District: Celebrating Success

East Siang district's Public Health Engineering & Water Supply Division celebrated the successful implementation of Functional Household Tap Connection under the Har Ghar Jal initiative. Stakeholders, including PRI leaders, Gram Panchayat Chairpersons, and Village Water Sanitation Committee members, gathered at the College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat, for the celebration. Dy. Commissioner-cum-Chairman, District Water Sanitation Management, Tayi Taggu, expressed gratitude to VWSC and gram panchayat members for their support. Er. Oling Taloh, Executive Engineer, PHE & WS Division, Pasighat, stressed the importance of protecting catchment areas through proper plantation and avoiding deforestation. Both DC Pasighat, Tayi Taggu, and EE Oling Taloh expressed joy over East Siang District's inclusion among the top districts for 100% tap connections.

This collective success story reflects Arunachal Pradesh's commitment to providing clean and accessible water to every household, setting a benchmark for other regions to emulate in their pursuit of water security. The state's achievement underlines the transformative impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission in ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply for communities across the state.
