GPS Alumni Association Announces Key Resolutions and Upcoming Alumni Meet
Guwahati, November 18, 2024: The Guwahati Public School Alumni Association successfully conducted its 2nd Central Committee Meeting (CCM) on November 17, 2024, and finalized several important resolutions to strengthen its engagement with the school and contribute to the community. The meeting emphasized the importance of alumni participation in school upliftment and social activities. To achieve this, the Association has prioritized hosting annual or biannual alumni meets to foster unity and collaboration.
Key Activities for the Year
The following activities have been planned to ensure consistent involvement of alumni with the school and community:
- Annual Scholarship: The Lt. Bidyadhar Sarma Meritorious Student of the Year scholarship will be awarded during the school’s annual day or sports day.
- Best Sports Person Award: A prize worth ₹5,000 (in kind) will be given to the best male and female sportspersons every year.
- Tree Plantation Drive: A tree plantation drive will be conducted at the school between April and June annually.
- Children's Day Participation: Alumni will engage with students through activities like career counseling, basic life support training, road safety workshops, road rage management sessions, and movie screenings.
- Signature Campaign for Social Causes: A fixed amount of ₹20,000 will be allocated for signature campaigns supporting causes like flood relief, old-age homes, and orphanages.
- Extension of Alumni Batches: The Association has decided to extend its alumni network to include batches from 1988 to 2010.
- Quarterly GBM: Four General Body Meetings of the Association will be held every financial year.
Alumni Meet: A Celebration of Unity
The much-awaited GPS Alumni Meet will now occur on January 4th and 5th, 2025, rescheduled from January 11th and 12th, 2025. The two-day event promises to be a blend of sports, culture, and camaraderie.
Day 1: Sports Activities (January 4, 2025)
The first day will feature exciting sports events to bring alumni together:
- Football match between alumni members
- Marathon with separate male and female categories
- Tug-of-war among alumni members
- 20-over cricket match between alumni teams
Day 2: Cultural Day (January 5, 2025)
The second day will focus on cultural and intellectual exchange, starting at 11:00 AM:
- Interaction between past and present teachers, followed by a luncheon
- Alumni cultural program starting at 4:00 PM (Details to follow)
The Association looks forward to the wholehearted support and enthusiastic participation of its members to make this event a grand success. Together, let us strengthen the bond between the alumni and the alma mater and contribute to a brighter future for the school and society.
